Riding SchoolI am shortly to join a riding school nr Basingstoke and will be available to teach people on these horses. Whilst these are not highly schooled classical horses they are still horses! (and unlike most riding school horses, they have not had their instructors constantly teaching "shorten the reins" thereby retaining soft mouths and forwardness, whilst still remaining safe.) I have often had students coming to me in the past who have been to Portugal or Spain on holiday and have had a wonderful time sitting on beautifully schooled horses and riding advanced movements. They said they just "pressed the right buttons" and the horses performed. But this was followed by the frustration of coming home to their own or riding school horses - pressing those same buttons and nothing happening! It is all very well to be able to ask for flying changes but how do you ask a horse who has no idea what you are asking? By taking you through the basics I will be able to teach you classical principles of how to ride and train horses. There are very few people who do not need to re-think or refine their riding, whether they are once a week riders or even professional riders. I rode as a qualified BHS instructor for 20 years but still spent alot of time with my instructor refining my hands! The aim is for myself to train at least one horse up to a higher standard to be ridden by those who have achieved more than the basics of classical riding but this of course will take some time. In the meantime, if you are interested in riding lessons at the school, please email or ring me for details.
